Just like our clients, our real estate agents are looking forward to the chance to enjoy a classic Fourth of July party in and around the Richmond area. Richmond real estate offers many wonderful opportunities to homeowners, including the chance to enjoy some of the state's best Independence Day bashes.

If you're looking for something to do to celebrate our nation's freedom, check out these events:

1. Chesterfield Fourth of July Celebration – 10300 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, VA
   Chesterfield homes for sale will light up this summer thanks to the always fun Fourth of July Celebration in town. Live music will set the scene starting at 5 p.m. while you dine from the tastiest local food trucks. Little ones will love it thanks to the children's inflatable play area. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. The night closes at 10 p.m. with fireworks.
2. Independence Day and Artillery Demonstration – 6125 Boydton Plank Road, Petersburg, VA
   Not far from some of the top Petersburg homes for sale, the Independence Day and Artillery Demonstration is something you can really sink your teeth into! Beginning at 9 a.m., there'll be a detailed color guard demonstration and you'll be able to see real period artillery in action. The Haversacks and Hardtack String Band will be playing authentic Civil War ballads, too.
3. 4th of July Fireworks Show – Southgate Square, Colonial Heights, VA
   Owners (and future owners) of Colonial Heights homes for sale get to enjoy the 4th of July Fireworks Show just a short distance from home. The show's official viewing areas will be off Interstate 95, Exits 53 and 54, in the Southgate Square area. For best viewing, bring blankets and lawn chairs. The fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. and usually last for around an hour.
4. Independence Day Celebration – 428 North Arthur Ash Boulevard, Richmond VA
   Sponsored by the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, the Independence Day Celebration in Richmond is one of the top family-friendly events of the summer. The fun kicks off at 9 a.m. and includes live music, a scavenger hunt, and a picnic out on the lawn. Since it ends at 5 p.m., you still have the opportunity to relocate to your favorite fireworks viewing spot.
5. Red, White, and Lights 2019 – 2999 Darbytown Road, Henrico, VA
   Situated in Dorey Park, just a short distance from Henrico homes for sale, the aptly-named Red, White, and Lights is an annual tribute to everything that makes America great. Gates open at 4 p.m. for live entertainment, popular food trucks, and the Family Fun Zone. At 8 p.m., you can enjoy a concert by the Richmond Symphony Orchestra capped off with brilliant fireworks!

Food trucks have long been loved around the world, with some of the longest-running trucks in cities like London, Oxford, and Cambridge in the UK. Today, this global phenomenon has spread across the United States.

Not surprisingly, our area is on the cutting edge of this trend in the United States. Our REALTORS® agree--there's nothing like a local Richmond food truck for a scrumptious lunch.  

These trucks, which roam our streets, show up just in time for lunch, a festival or pre-game tailgating party to quiet the cravings of hungry bystanders with a cornucopia of fare from paninis and tacos to Asian fusion and funnel cakes.  

Here is our list of six favorite food trucks to visit.  While it is certainly not definitive,  it is a great "sampler" of where to find some of the best food trucks in our area.

1. Bikini Panini 
   Launched back in 2017, Bikini Panini has hot, pressed sandwiches inspired by the cuisine of the Mediterranean and Cote d'Azur. You may also have seen it around many Richmond events since it operates a popular catering service. The Bikini Cubano is the classic that everyone adores: You can pair it with soup of the day, paella, or even a double-decker pizza.
2. Boka Tako Truck
   Boka Tako Truck offers the classic taco truck experience. Associated with Boka Fusion Tacos, a popular spot for "Grill & Growlers," it means Taco Tuesday can be any day of the week here in Richmond. Premium tacos include such flavors as grilled fish, braised beef brisket, and pork belly. Burritos, bowls, and a number of salads are also available.
3. Cheezilla Food Truck
   Cheezilla Food Truck is dedicated to the most comfortable comfort food of them all: The grilled cheese. You can have the classic grilled cheese of your childhood or dress it up for a more robust winter meal with a cup of hot soup. All soups, sauces, and dressings are handcrafted in small batches, and the sandwiches use quality meat and fresh produce
4. Christopher's RunAway Gourmay
   Christopher's RunAway Gourmay has one of the longest histories in Richmond's food truck world: It dates all the way back to 1985. It's one of the best food trucks when you want fresh, hot pasta accompanied by salads made with a chef's flair. If you find something you simply can't do without, you can even buy many of the dishes by the pound. Yum!
5. Curbside Creations
   Who's in the mood for some Cajun? If the answer is you, you're in luck! Curbside Creations offers your choice of Cajun seafood and American comfort food all in one place. Hankering for a po'boy? You should try the delicious fried gator po'boy – or the more traditional fried oyster, catfish, or shrimp. Curbside Creations keeps a convenient calendar of future locations on its website.
6. Curry in a Hurry
   A comfort classic of both Indian and British cuisine, you'll never see curry the same way again once you visit Curry in a Hurry. This striking Union Flag-styled food truck dishes up true restaurant-style curry, tikka masala, vindaloo, and "Mum's Basmati Rice" among many others. Those who order in advance can enjoy the beef patties based on an 80-year old family recipe.

2. Father's Day Celebration at James River Cellars Winery – 11008 Washington Hwy, Glen Allen, VA 23059
   Join us at James River Cellars Winery on Father's Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for "Bagels at the Bar with Dad."  James River Cellars is a short drive from Glen Allen homes for sale.  Any wine purchase (tasting, glass, or bottle) includes the mini bagel bar with cream cheese! Bagels will be available from 11:00 a.m. - until we run out!
3. Father's Day at Southpark Mall – 230 Southpark Circle, Colonial Heights, VA
   Colonial Heights homes for sale have the benefit of being just down the street from some of the best shopping in the region: The Southpark Mall. For Father's Day, Southpark Mall shopping gets even better with a wide range of deals on gifts for any kind of Dad, not to mention fun discounts from many different eateries. Whether the Big Guy likes Firehouse Subs to IHOP, you'll find everything from formal dining options to the quirky and offbeat.
4. River Street Market – 30 River Street, Petersburg, VA 23803
   The River Street Market will be open for the season this June just a short hop from Petersburg homes for sale. Bring Dad out to enjoy a day out exploring this blend of arts, produce, and culture: One of the best places to get farm-fresh produce in the area. Since it's right in the heart of Old Town Petersburg, you can also explore historic sites in the area and the relaxing riverside. Artists will be on hand to display and sell unique souvenirs, too.
5. RRRC Thanks Dad 5K –13872 Coalfield Commons Place #102, Midlothian, VA
   Midlothian homes for sale are "on track" to be part of one of the biggest local Father's Day celebrations. The Thanks Dad 5K run highlights the special bond between fathers and their kids. Participants can choose to register as part of a competitive team, non-competitive team, or as individual runners. It starts at 8:30 a.m. and is touted as a dog-friendly event.
